Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs Launches Stakeholder Dialogues on Ghana Innovation and Startups Bill

Accra, Ghana – November 13, 2024

The Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE) has commenced a series of stakeholder dialogues across five regions to foster inclusive engagement on the Ghana Innovation and Startups Bill. Covering Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono, and Volta regions, these dialogues aim to unite private and public sector stakeholders in discussions that will strengthen and refine the bill’s provisions.

The bill, designed to create a supportive framework for startups and innovation-led enterprises, has reached a critical development stage. GCYE calls upon government and private sector representatives to contribute their expertise and insights. This collaborative effort seeks to apprise stakeholders of progress, review current provisions, solicit further inputs, and rally ambassadors committed to championing the bill’s successful passage.

The series began last month in the Ashanti Region, where an impressive turnout included representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies and officials from Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies. Young entrepreneurs from diverse sectors also attended, signalling the broad support for legislation that promises to drive innovation and business growth in Ghana.

GCYE CEO and Co-Chairperson of the Technical Working Committee, Sherif Ghali, emphasized the importance of the dialogues, noting, “The success of the Ghana Innovation and Startups Bill depends on how well it reflects the aspirations and practical needs of the startup ecosystem. By engaging stakeholders directly, we ensure that the bill’s provisions are comprehensive and grounded in the real experiences of young Ghanaian entrepreneurs.”

The stakeholder dialogues will continue across the selected regions, creating an open platform for feedback and collaborative discussions. The GCYE remains committed to fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports innovation, provides fair regulatory frameworks, and strengthens Ghana’s global competitiveness.

This engagement reflects GCYE’s broader mission to amplify the voices of young entrepreneurs in policy-making, ensuring that the emerging generation of business leaders in Ghana has the necessary legislative support to thrive.
